Escape

Escape is #34 in the Camfield series and was published in June 1986. Barbara Cartland writes a story set in 1870 during the Siege of Paris by the Prussians. The Earl of Kyleston is in Paris after being besieged by a lady and while there, he meets Miranda, who is a distant relative and in desperate need of help for her mother, who is very ill. Can two people find love in the midst of death and war?

This is one of my favorite covers by the unknown artist because it shows a scene in the story where our couple escape Paris in the only way available: a balloon! I like the contrast of their fur coats and the muted balloon colors. This book has special meaning to me because I have a daughter named Miranda!
